*****NOTE***** These instructions have been updated on July 30, 2015.

This blog walks through the process for teachers to download and install the Dev|Pro Game Design and Game Programming curriculums on their own computer and on school lab computers. If you are a student looking for instructions on how to download and install the course onto your own computer please go here.

In order to download and install the curriculum you must create an account when you are ready to add students. If you have not yet registered please do so here.

The remaining instructions assume you have created an account and have already verified your educator credentials. You will also need an internet connection for this process.

Step 1: Log in to your account

Log in to your account with your username and password at store.gginteractive.com

log in

Once you have accessed your account, if you have not yet downloaded the course materials, this screen will appear.

From here you can access the curriculum by clicking Downloads. You can also begin to manage your classes by clicking Manage Classes. To continue the course download and install process, Click Downloads. You can also Click Downloads from the list on the Left side of the page.

Step 2: Select your curriculum

Click “Products” on the far left side of the screen under your Dashboard.

Step 3: Enter your activation key

This program will install all of the software and programs you need on your computer to run the course and the course exercise.

If someone else (i.e. IT) will be installing the software in a lab, stop here, and share with them the executable you just download and have them start from this point. (note: some e-mail systems may not let you send this file. In that case, a thumb drive or network share is recommended.)

Next, you will be prompted to enter your activation key. This key is also found on your Products page. It looks like this:

Enter this key into the Activation field and click “Next”.

Step 4: Install course materials

Now continue through the installation. When asked if you want to run the file, click “Run”.

Note: It is recommended that you are current with all Windows Updates before running the Development Environment Setup. You can run the Setup at any time but you may be required to restart your computer during the process if you are not current with Windows Updates.

This program will install all the software and programs you need on your machine to work through the course exercises. Each of the programs listed below will launch their own installation process. Once a program in successfully installed, you will see that item “checked off”. When done with all the installations, click “Finish”.

Step 5: Install the course onto your school lab machines

When it is time to put the course onto your school lab machines use the same activation key you used to install the course onto your own machine. (DO NOT use any student coupon codes to install on school lab machines). Just follow these simple instructions again for each student computer in your lab.

Step 6: Launch Curriculum

Once you have gone through this process you can launch the curriculum from your Start Menu Search feature. Type “DevPro” into the Start Menu Search field and click the DevPro Course Launcher icon.

Choose which course you wish to launch: Game Design or Game Programming.
